Zenta Kampars Obituary

JONES- Zenta Kampars, 95, of Jones, MI, passed away on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1921 to Fridis and Emilija (Roop) Eglite.
She married Karlis Kampars on September 17, 1949 in Germany. Mr. Kampars predeceased her on March 11, 2011. Also precedeing her in death were two grandsons, Ricky Picon and Mason Kampars, two sisters and three brothers. She and her husband, her daughter and son, father and mother immigrated to the United States and became naturalized citizens.
Mrs. Kampars retired from Whitehall Laboratories as the first woman mechanic. She was a devoted lifelong Christian Scientist and belonged to the First Church of Christ Scientist in Elkhart. She enjoyed farming and loved gardening, reading and fishing.
She is survived by two daughters, Vija Picon (Steve Swartzell) of Union, MI and Aija (Howard) Blevins of Silver City, New Mexico, two sons John (Catherine) Kampars of Niles, MI and Martin (Mary) Kampars of Union, MI; a grandson, Matt Kampars of Elkhart, Indiana and a granddaughter, Danielle Oswald of Battle Creek, MI; Great-grandsons, Marty Oswald of Battle Creek, MI, Owen, Seth and Jarad Kampars of Elkhart, IN and a great-granddaughter, Allison Hall of Kalamazoo, MI.
A private family graveside service will be held on Monday May 23, 2016 at Plum Grove Cemetery in Union, MI. Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to the First Church of Christ Scientist, 2913 E. Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN 46514
