SHIRLEY A. WITMER
May 8, 1935 - April 18, 2016

ELKHART- Shirley A. Witmer, 80, of Goshen, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Monday April 18, 2016 at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen. She was born May 8, 1935 in Goshen to the late Theodore E. & Vesta (Wyland) Wheeler.
She married Merlin Witmer on July 15, 1951 and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1988. Surviving is a daughter, Joy Ann (Rick) Sigman of Elkhart; two sons, Steven J. (Cindy) Witmer of Osceola, Larry (Sue) Witmer of Elkhart; seven grandchildren, Matt (Amy) Sigman of Aurora, Ontario, Canada, Brian (Joanna) Sigman of Elkhart, IN, Seth (Tashina) Witmer of Indianapolis, IN, Stephen (Natalie) Witmer of Elkhart, IN, Andrew Witmer of Lancaster, NC, Kaylee Witmer, Titus Witmer both of Osceola, IN; five great-grandchildren, Josef, Kathryn and Noah Sigman, Charles Witmer and Hannah Sigman, plus two unborn are on the way. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Shepard and two sisters, Ruth Sellers and Hollis Strange.
Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church and belonged to the Christian Lights Class at the church. She also enjoyed doing needlework. Shirley worked at Sears for twenty-one years, retiring in 1992 and also worked at Kohl's for five years.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Greencroft Healthcare for their kind and compassionate care they gave to Shirley for the past two months.
Shirley's arrangements have been entrusted to Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home, 1129 S. Prairie Street, Elkhart, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church Camp Scholarship.
