SARAH JACKSON

November 12, 1947 – February 21, 2022

 

 

ELKHART- Sarah Jackson, 74, of Elkhart, died Monday February 21, 2022, at her residence in Elkhart.  She was born November 12, 1947, in Duncan, Mississippi to James and Minnie (Williams) Carr.

     On December 25, 1965, she married Jessie Jackson, Sr.  He preceded her in death on July 2, 2009.  Surviving are 4 children, Dorothy Jackson, Marjory Jackson, Denise Jackson, Lawrence Jackson 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are 11 siblings, Victoria (Bill) Bowers, Betty Sanders, Bessie Carr, Minnie Carr, Susie Carr Christine Carr-Eller, James Carr, Jr., Alonzo Carr, Eugene (Lisa) Carr, Michael (Cynthia) Carr, David (Melissa) Carr and a host of nieces and nephews.

     Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Jessie Jackson, Jr., and Dennis Jackson, and 2 siblings, Martha McCain, and Tommy Carr.

     Sarah was a homemaker and was a member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart.  She worked in the kitchen at the church, was a member of the Women’s Group at the church and helped with DVBS and Sunday School at the church.

     Arrangements for Sarah are visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Community Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart on Friday, March 4, 2022. Sarah will be laid to rest following her service at Prairie Street Cemetery.  Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.
