Richard Powers Obituary

Richard E. “Dick” Powers, 86, of Goshen, passed away February 11, 2019 at Courtyard Healthcare in Goshen. He was born November 1, 1932 in Pekin, Illinois to Harold & Louise (Saal) Powers.

On June 20, 1959 in Denver, CO he married Barbara J. Short. She survived along with 2 sisters, Mary Ellen (Ron) Worth of Grand Junction, CO and Carol (Paul) Millermon of Paroma, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Powers.

Richard graduated from Treimout High School in Illinois and graduated from Grace College and Seminary. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1953 – 1955 and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Elkhart. Dick was a school teacher and taught school at West Noble and Elkhart Baptist Christian School. He was also employed by the City of Elkhart from 1979-2006.

The family will receive friends for 2 hours prior to the 2 pm funeral service Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home. Pastor Kyle Grant from the Grace Bible Church will preside and burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, Illinois on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 12 noon CST.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Grace Bible Church.
