ELKHART - Friends of Palma ("Pam") Kruis, 81, of 1400 W. Franklin Street, may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 16, at Waterman Westbrook Clouse Funeral Home where the rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m. that day. Services for Mrs. Kruis will be at Noon on Saturday, December 17, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Matthew Koonan will officiate. The body will be buried at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
Mrs. Kruis had been in declining health, and died at 6 p.m. on November 16, 2016, at Riverside Village Nursing Home in Elkhart.
Mrs. Kruis was born on September 14, 1935, in Warsaw, Indiana. She graduated from Elkhart High School, and married Herman J. Kruis on February 27, 1954, in Elkhart. During their marriage, Mr. Kruis co-founded Kruis Mold & Engineering, Inc., and Indiana Plastics, Inc., both Elkhart companies.
The couple had four children and divorced in 1981. She never remarried, and is survived by three sons, Steven Kruis, a lawyer in San Diego, Ca., Quinton Kruis of Blackshear, Ga., Michael Kruis of Ypsilanti, Mich., and two grandsons, Ben Kruis and Brady Kruis. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her second son, Johnny.
Mrs. Kruis was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Earlier in her life, she had been actively involved in church activities, including the Bible Study Club. She had done some acting in local theater productions, and modeling for print ads and brochures used in the modular housing industry. In addition, later in her life, she opened and ran a gift shop, "La Palma Gifts."
Memorials may be given to Harbor Light Hospice in lieu of flowers.
