MARGARET A. HRUBY

August 31, 1928 – February 14, 2026

ELKHART, IN- Margaret A. Hruby, 97, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday February 14, 2026, at her residence in Elkhart.  She was born August 31, 1928, in Elkhart, Indiana to Harvey & Verna (Hoetger) Ernst.

     She married George R. Hruby on May 3, 1952, in Elkhart, IN.  He preceded her in death on November 5, 1986.  Also preceded her in death was her son, Robert A. Hruby (4-18-1980), her daughter Janet E. Hruby (2-8-1980) and 6 siblings, Francis Ernst, Rosemarie Karasch, Anna Marie Ernst, Katherine Jane Schlosser, James Ernst and John Ernst.  She is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy McGregor of Atlanta, GA and Elizabeth (Steven) Koerner of Lutz, FL; 5 sons, Michael J. (Sharon) Hruby, Peter A. Hruby, Edward J (Aaron) Hruby all of Elkhart, Richard J. Hruby of Holly, MI and Charles W. (Terri) Hruby of Greenwood, IN; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

     Margaret was a lunch lady for the Elkhart Community School System, and a member of the Rosary Society at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol of which she was a member.  She was a volunteer at the Faith Mission in the soup kitchen, a volunteer for Feed the Children and a member of the Solitaire Club at St. Thomas Catholic Church.   She enjoyed listening to the Elkhart Municipal Band.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday February 22, 2026, at Zimmerman-Clouse Funeral Home (formerly Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home) 1129 S. Prairie Street, Elkhart, IN.  The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Additional visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday February 23, 2026, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula St., Bristol, IN 46507 where the Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

     Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery in Elkhart.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church.
