Johnnie Murray Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Johnnie Mae Murray, who passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on May 19, 1951, in Tampa, Florida, to her parents, Johnny B. Harris, Sr., and Essie Mae Harris.
Johnnie grew up in Syracuse, NY, and later moved to South Bend, IN. She was a dedicated wife to her husband of 40 yrs, Charles Murray Sr., and a devoted mother to her children. She was an excellent cook and loved shopping, playing quick draw, organizing, and listening to music. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She also took her love for cooking into her career choices, working as a cook for many restaurants, and finally, working as a cook for Kidz Kompany daycare.
Johnnie loved to travel and spend time with each of her children who lived out of state. She belonged to Gateway Church in Fort Worth and attended when she was with her daughter in Texas. She loved her children.
Johnnie is survived by her husband, Charles Murray Sr.; her sons, Terry, Antonio, Ohmar, Charles, Issiah; and her daughter, Charlene. Johnnie is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Willie, Nellie, Robert, Susan, Teresa, Elizabeth, and David. She has 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding Johnnie in death were her parents, Johnny and Essie Mae Harris; her son, Mark Murray; and her daughter, Estina Tutts.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, phone calls, and all the love that has been shown during this difficult time. Rest in peace precious mother, you will forever be in our hearts and memories.
