Emogene R Garman

December 14, 1923 ~ July 27, 2022 (age 98) 98 Years Old


ELKHART- Emogene R. (Marvel) Garman, 98, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away Wednesday July 27, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 14, 1923, in Kosciusko County, Indiana to Evert & Edna (Rosebrugh) Marvel.
     On February 11, 1947, in Elkhart, Indiana she married Vernon Garman.  He survives along with 2 children, Kay (David) King of Elkhart, IN, Timothy (Dawn) Garman of Cassopolis, MI; 3 grandchildren, Kristi (Chris) Ickes of Nappanee, IN, Kimberly (Brett) Griffith of Palm Harbor, FL, Benjamin (Dakota) Garman of Granger, IN; 5 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Griffith of Elkhart, IN, Alex Griffith of Palm Harbor, FL, Kaylyn King of Elkhart, IN, Riley King of Elkhart, IN and Henry Garman of Granger, IN.  Also surviving is her sister, Catherine Stillson of Ft. Myers, FL.  Emogene was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Peggy, her twin brother, Eugene “Jack” Marvel, 3 sisters, Marietta Smith, Gladys Smith, Ellen Plotner and brothers Dean Marvel and Joe Marvel.
     Emogene worked at Free Methodist Publishing Company in Winona Lake, IN and at CTS Corporation in Elkhart for over 35 years.  She graduated from Leesburg High School, was a member of the quarter century club at CTS and life member of the ladies auxiliary at the VFW Post #15.  Emogene and Vernon spent winters in Sebring, FL for 18 years.
     A graveside service for Emogene will be held at Noon on Monday August 1, 2022, at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.  Pastor Bob Culp from the Grace Brethren Church will render the service.
     Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral home is entrusted with her care.
