GOSHEN-Donald W. McLemore, 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior September 20, 2020 after months of battling Pancreatic Cancer. He was born October 7, 1955 in Elkhart to Gerald & Martha (Robertson) McLemore.
On June 30, 1979 at First Baptist Church he married Sheila Lavy; she survives along with his mother, 3 children, Amy (Glen) Helmuth of Goshen, Cara McLemore of Shipshewana, IN and Brandon (Amy) McLemore of Elkhart. Also surviving is 7 grandchildren, Christian George, Karlie George, Michael Helmuth, Adelaide McLemore, Ainslie McLemore, Julianna Reyes-McLemore, Indhira Reyes-McLemore, Hadassah Reyes-McLemore, 2 brothers, Douglas (Laura) McLemore of Knoxville, TN, Roger (Mary) McLemore of Granger, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Donald retired from Shield Restraint Systems in Elkhart and was a member of First Baptist Church since 1978. Don leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness that was evident to countless people and will be remembered by everyone who knew him. His personal relationship with Christ was clearly visible. His deep love for his wife, kids, family and friends was woven through every part of his life. He modeled selflessness by always putting others first. One of his greatest joys came from being a grandfather. He showed them his love through stories, humor, life lessons, and sharing the wonders of God's creation to them through his love of nature. It would be difficult to find a better grandpa. Don lived a full and purposeful life and will be remembered as a faithful servant of Christ and a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Bristol. Additional visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the church. Presiding will be Pastor Phil Byars and John Blodgett. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Home Care and Hospice or First Baptist Church in Bristol.
