Carolyn Lorene “Neece” Bender

Carolyn Lorene “Neece” Bender, born on November 24, 1940, peacefully passed away on August 18, 2023, at the age of 82. She had been a resident at the Laurels of Goshen for the past 4 years. Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Edgar and Lorene Neece of Elkhart, IN.
After graduating from Elkhart High School in 1959, Carolyn embraced a life filled with love and dedication to her family. As a devoted stay-at-home mom, she found joy in gardening and nurturing her four children. Later in life, she expanded her horizons and embraced new challenges. Carolyn worked as a secretary at Lithotone and Michiana Furniture in sales, displaying her versatile skills. Additionally, she found fulfillment as a part-time caregiver to seniors at Greencroft Communities and Home Instead Senior Care, forming deep connections with those she assisted due to her compassionate and nurturing spirit.
Carolyn’s legacy lives on through her children: Jeff (Beth) Bender, Bruce (Sarah) Bender, Amy (Rick) Modjeska, and Jason (Amy) Bender. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lindsay (Christian) Wyman, Kaleigh Radabaugh (Sean Quinn), Kristen (Seth) Baldridge, Dusten (Shelby) Modjeska, Travis (Brittany) Bender, Scott Bender, Brandin Bender, Brittin Bender, Cierra Carey, Austin Carey, Dalton Carey, Madison Bender, Harlow Haines, Hadlee Baldridge, Holden Baldridge, Taryn Phillips, Cierra Phillips, Hannah Phillips, Ivory Phillips, Avery Bender, Finley Bender, Olivia Carey, and Carson Carey.
Those who knew her undoubtedly know of her love for her family, her faith in the Lord, and her dedication to serving Him.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Neece and Lorene (Edwards) Neece, and her brother Barry Owen Neece III.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on September 9th, from 4-6 p.m. at The Garage Coffee Shop in Wakarusa, IN. Alongside floral tributes, the family welcomes expressions of sympathy through donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
