Betty L. (Lutey) Overhiser

January 21, 1927-June 15, 2019

Betty L. (Lutey) Overhiser, 92, died Saturday June 15, 2019. Born in Ironwood, MI to the late Harold and Hulda Lutey on January 21, 1927. In 1943 her family moved to Wakarusa where she graduated in 1945 from Wakarusa High School. Betty retired from the Weyerhaeuser Co. in Middlebury in 1976, and worked part-time at Elkhart General Hospital. She is a former member of First Baptist and Grace Bible Church in Elkhart.

Surviving is a son Richard Karl Overhiser, granddaughter, Kim Kester, nieces, Dr. Barbara Lutey and Nancy Elaine (Tom) Bagwell. Betty was preceded in death by her husband John L. Overhiser Feburay 8, 2004 and her brother Richard “Dick” Lutey March 17, 2006 and 2 step-daughters.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday June 23, 2019 at Grace Brethren Church 4619 Stellhorn Rd. Ft. Wayne, IN 46815 with viewing from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Pastor Bob Arenobine and Rev. Dr. Daniel Gelatt will officiate. The family will bury on Monday in Grace Lawn Cemetery Middlebury.
