BARBARA J. POWERS

September 22, 1934 – November 13, 2021

GOSHEN- Barbara J. Powers, 87, of Goshen, died Saturday November 13, 2021, at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen. She was born September 22, 1934, in Denver, Colorado to William E. and Marie (Milnor) Short.

     On June 20, 1959, she married Richard E. Powers. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2019. Surviving are 2 siblings, Edward Short of Kentucky and Grace Elizabeth Short of Montrose, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard.

     Barbara graduated from Brighton High School and as a teenager she received Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She was a graduate of St. Francis College and Grace College. Barbara was a schoolteacher and taught school at West Noble High School, Jimtown High School and Elkhart Baptist Christian School.

     A private burial will take place at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, Illinois. Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.

     A celebration of her life service will be held at the Grace Bible Church, 1700 Edwardsburg Ave., Elkhart, IN 46514 on Saturday,  December 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  Services will also be live streamed.  Please visit Grace Bible website for the link.  Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
