INDIANAPOLIS- Ashyne James, 17, of Indianapolis and formerly of Elkhart, died Saturday June 17, 2023, in Indianapolis, IN.  He was born March 22, 2006, in South Bend, IN to Alophonso James, Jr., and Paris Rodgers.

     Left to cherish his memory is his guardian, Alonda Gregory of Indianapolis, IN, his mother, Paris Rodgers of South Bend, his grandfather, Timothy Spann of South Bend, his grandmothers, Dorothy Rodgers of Elkhart and Ella Davis of CA and Trina Gregory of Elkhart and his grandfather, Alphonso James, Sr., of Elkhart.  As well as great grandparents, Rollin Spann of South Bend, Johnnie Rodgers of South Bend and his sisters, Amari James of AZ, Princess Rodgers of Elkhart, Carmylah Winston of South Bend, Alyric Fox of Elkhart and brothers, Major Rodgers of Elkhart, Alponson James III of South Bend and Greyson Chase.  He was preceded in death by his father, Alophonso James Jr., and his grandparents Artis & Patricia James.

Ashyne was a student at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, IN.  He loved to play basketball and was a loving and kind person, also was warm hearted and he told his cousins and siblings the right thing to do. 

     Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. till Noon on Saturday July 1, 2023, the funeral will start at Noon at Canaan Baptist Church in Elkhart  Rev. Johnny Robertson will render the service and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.

     Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with his care.   Memorial donations may be given to the funeral home to help the family pay for the funeral expenses.
